When preparing the materials I needed for Thanksgiving (stuff from work...), I started thinking about Christmas, since one festivity comes before the other.
So I told my little girls I would go to our storage room to get them a surprise. I came upstairs loaded with boxes and bags with all our Christmas decoration objects and filled with Christmas spirit I got everyone to decorate the house with me.
My little girls were so full of joy theu couldn't get their hands off the garlands and helped me decorating our Christmas tree, including the star on top of it. My husband, with his camera on, captured all these moments. The most special one was when we turned on the lights and we had our little girls hugging the tree and saying "Thank you" and "tre tree is very beautiful!"
We decorated the rest of the house and I mentally schedulled some spare time to finish the remain decoration objects. So far, this is what it looks like:
These moments are unique. Their happiness is so contagious and despite the difficulties and hard times nearby, Christmas is Christmas. And, jsut because of their smiles, Christmas is still when we want it to be.

Austerity measures in my place of work are so severe they started hitting some of my colleagues intelligence.
The problem is it is always the same people having the same benefits, the same people having the same perks and the same people that always take their ideas and silly projects ahead and with no previous preparation.
I can only tell you that austerity is cruel... When even intelligence, professionalism and insight are hit, we are really in a deep crisis, gentleman. A serious crisis.
Começa oficialmente a minha preparação para o Natal!
It is officialy started my preparation for Christmas!

I work with a little young girl with permanent special needs and, the other day, she showed me a notebook she wanted to use. I look into it and I recognized our speech therapist handwriting and I thought to myself that was an excelent idea: a means of communication wide open to all activities my little girls are in allowing all intervenients to comment their work with them and consult notes so that all of us speak the same kanguage when it comes to work for and with them.
I told the idea in our Early Intervention meeting and it was promptly accepted. So, last week I started using it.
These communications allow us to know how they spent their day or how it went with some activities or uf there were any tantrums or inadequate behaviours. I can tell last week wasn't an easy week because there were lots of tantrums and worrying behaviours but it turned out very well. The week ended well, with good work information and no tantrums reported. Evem the weekend went well!

It may seem derisive and insignificant to most people, because, at the age of 4, most children go to the supermarket on foot, but, to me, having this experience taken for granted means a lot. Until now, even for quick shopping, I put my little girls in the shopping cart to avoid dispersions. Now, I can take them on foot - though by my hand, holding the shopping basket, something they love to do.
Unlike what domestic magazines, websites and others suggest, whenever it is possible, I bgo shopping with my little girls:
- they don't usually have tantrums in public - even if they did, they had to get used to other places and learn how to manage their emotions
- they get the idea of what is essential to buy and most of what we take is really indispensable
- they don't ask for extra nor get lost (and when they do, I say we don't need it and they accept it)
- I do the shopping a lot faster so I don't overstimulate them (visuals and sounds) and to avoid sudden exits to the toilet
- space inside the shopping cart or basket is spare, so, I really have to obey my list
They love going shopping with me and they prefer the basket to the shopping cart and cooperate a lot. And I am pleased to see this stage acquired.

... we had the visit of a rainbow. My little girls got stuck to the living room window telling as many colours as they could identify, in portuguese and in english, very excited because this rainbow was really clear to see.
